2025 was not about doing more….
It was about doing the right things, consistently.
This year reinforced that leadership is accountability—to patients who place their trust in us, to teams that depend on clarity and fairness, and to systems that must be enduring.
Much of the progress happened quietly: refining clinical pathways, strengthening workflows, and sustaining meaningful care.
As a surgeon, 2025 was deeply affirming. Managing complex disease and seeing patients survive with meaningful quality of life—often beyond expected timelines—reiterated that our decisions echo long after treatment end
The FHNO 2025 conference reflected my approach to oncology: rigorous science, balance, and respect for diverse viewpoints—always placed above individual visibility. Building that platform required restraint, clarity, and conviction, and in doing so, it deepened my understanding of leadership and values.
Reconnecting briefly at a high school reunion this year offered perspective on how far the journey has come and the principles that have remained constant. I am grateful to my family for keeping me grounded, reinforcing that work must be balanced to remain sustainable.
